The UW-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the musical "A Man of No Importance" Feb. 20-22, Feb. 26-28 and March 1 at 7:30 p.m. and at 1:30 p.m. March 2 in Riverside Theatre of the Haas Fine Arts Center at UW-Eau Claire. "A Man of No Importance" by Terrence McNally, with lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty, tells the story of Alfie Byrne, a bus driver in 1964 Dublin who attempts to put on an amateur production of Oscar Wilde's "Salome." He confronts the forces of bigotry and shame over a love "that dare not speak its name." The musical will be directed by Richard Nimke, associate professor of theatre arts.
