"Altering Perspectives: Unearthing the Unknown," a presentation of four student-created films, will be featured at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in the Woodland Theater of Davies Center at UW-Eau Claire.
The films were created as part of the Honors 303 "Power, Privilege and Inequality: Race, Class and Gender" class taught by Dr. Katherine Rhoades, dean emerita of the College of Education and Human Sciences and project special assistant to the chancellor.
The following films will be shown: "It's My Turn, Kemosabe: A Historical Analysis of Ethnic Sidekicks," "Shattering Stereotypes," "Maybe It's Just a Dream: An Exploration of Racism and Sexism in Three Popular Disney Movies" and "Let's Talk about Sex."
The event will include a brief student introduction and screening of each movie, followed by a student-led discussion.
"I am pleased with the research, analytical and creativity skills the students have brought to their projects thus far," Rhoades said. "I think the event promises to be an engaging learning opportunity."
Free pizza and popcorn will be provided.
