Thursdays at the U Lecture and Performance Series

In "Impact of Outdoor Pursuits in Education," Nathali Jones will provide a brief history of adventure education and outdoor pursuits, and how they have been utilized in physical education. She will also talk about how outdoor pursuits and adventure education are useful in K-12 education202fas well as outside of the traditional education setting.202f Her presentation from noon until 1 pm on Thursday, November 21st is part of the Thursdays at the U Lecture and Performance Series, which is free and open to the public due to financial support from the UW Eau Claire – Barron County campus foundation.  The talk will be in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall (Ritzinger 234) at the campus, which is located at 1800 College Drive in Rice Lake.  Feel free to bring your lunch to enjoy as you listen to our speaker, or you can visit our Campus Riverside Café which serves 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Jones was born and raised in Schaumburg, Illinois, just 30 miles from Downtown Chicago. She graduated with her bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Health Education in 2013 from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse.  She has been an active member of the Society of Health and Physical Educations (SHAPE) America and Wisconsin Health and Physical Education (WHPE).  Jones has presented research at the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) National Conference and the National Conference for Undergraduate Research (NCUR) as well as the SHAPE national convention.202f After a brief teaching career at Washington School of Information and Technology in Milwaukee, she returned to UW-L to earn her Masters of Science in Adventure and Outdoor Education.  During this time, she taught and led undergraduate courses in Rock Climbing, Caving, and Snow Shoeing. Since then, Nathali has been coaching and teaching physical education at Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids.
