On Thursday, Feb. 13th, from 12:30-1:30 pm, science fiction and fantasy author Kelly McCullough will be the featured speaker at the Thursdays at the U Lecture and Performance Series at UWEC-Barron County.  Kelly McCullough is best known for his novels, including the 5-volume WebMage series, the 6-volume Fallen Blade series, and his middle grade work, including School for Sidekicks, the forthcoming Magic, Madness and Mischief, and its sequel Spirits, Spells, and Snark. His micro-fiction series DragonDiaries and Badnoir can be found on his webpage or by following him on Twitter or Facebook.
In addition to novels, McCullough writes short stories, poetry, the occasional bit of nonfiction, and science fiction for the purpose of science education. Instances of the former have appeared in such venues as Tor.com, Weird Tales, Fantastic Stories of the Imagination, and Writers of the Future, among others. His educational work includes The Chronicles of the Wandering Star, an illustrated collection of short stories written as part of a middle school physical science curriculum funded by the National Science Foundation, and Hanny and the Mystery of the Voorwerp, a science comic that he co-wrote and co-edited as part of a project funded by NASA and the Hubble Space Telescope. He lives in the Midwest with his physics professor wife and a small herd of cats.
In the Feb. 13th session, McCullough will talk about writing and the publishing industry as well as reading illustrative passages from some of his works.  Thanks to financial support from the campus foundation, the lecture series is free and open to the public.  The campus is located at 1800 College Drive in Rice Lake and the talk will be in the Blue Hills Lecture Hall (Ritzinger 234).
