The Soldier and the Refusenik: Two Israelis. Two Choices. One Conclusion.

Maya Wind, conscientious objector and co-founder of the 2008 refusenik group of Israeli high school seniors and Eran Efrati, former IDF soldier and investigative researcher into the Israeli military will speak about the Israeli Occupation on Tuesday, May 6, at 7 p.m. in Centennial Hall, Room 1804 at UW-Eau Claire.

They share their experiences of joint Palestinian-Israeli struggle for justice and equality. They discuss direct action and protest in the West Bank and efforts to educate the Israeli public about the occupation. They also share their experiences of growing up in segregated Jerusalem and of their Zionist and militaristic education.

The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by UW-Eau Claire’s Council on Internationalization and Global Engagement (CIGE), the Department of Geography and Anthropology, and the Society of Politics.
