Why do young women feel empowered to engage in sexual activity but not to enjoy it? What does it even mean to have a positive, reciprocal, and ethical sexual experience? In a discussion inspired by her New York Times best-seller “Girls & Sex”, author and journalist Peggy Orenstein will offer a clear picture of the sexual landscape facing today’s young women, a landscape complicated by conflicting media messages, mythologies created by the porn industry, the “hookup” culture of social media, and a landscape simultaneously rooted in the essential elements of consent and satisfaction. Orenstein addresses an important and provocative topic with surprising facts, compelling anecdotes, and unexpected humor.
