Presenter: Steve Curran, department of geography and geology, UW-Barron County
This talk will focus on many
aspects of tornadoes and tornado climatology. Topics will include tornado
safety, damage patterns and wind speeds. A closer look will be given to
the areas in the United States that receive the most tornadoes as well as the
deadliest tornadoes. Also covered will be a comparison of the 1974 "Super
Outbreak" and the 2011 Dixie Alley Outbreak; the series of intense tornadoes
that have struck Moore, Oklahoma, and other recent damaging tornadoes.
Steven Curran graduated with a
bachelor’s degree in physical and environmental geography from UW- Whitewater
and with a master’s degree in geography from The Pennsylvania State University.
