UW-Eau Claire will host the 2014 World Flute Society Convention July 16-20 in the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The event aims to celebrate musical and cultural expressions of the world's indigenous and folk flute traditions. The convention is an opportunity for music enthusiasts, flutists and world music devotees to experience an event of exceptional musical and cultural diversity.
Performing artists will present Native American, Huichol, jazz, Chinese, Celtic, Japanese, Middle Eastern, Indian and world fusion music. The convention will consist of events open to the public, including evening concerts, afternoon concerts and a vendor area. Daily classes and workshops are offered with registration fees.
The World Flute Society Convention at Eau Claire is sponsored by the UW-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department, Visit Eau Claire!, Tree of Life Designs and Promotion Music Records.
