Students who have been trained and outfitted with protective gear will be dumping three 1.5 yard garbage containers (one from Governor's, Sutherland and Bridgman Halls) and sorting through the trash to determine how many items that could have been recycled were thrown away. This event is part of a Sustainability Pilot Project Housing's Office of Sustainability is conducting this year in Sutherland and Governor's Hall. The Trash Sort is intended to draw the attention of students living in the residence halls to what items they are throwing away that they could recycle. It also intended to educate them on what items are recyclable. The Trash Sort will be held again in the spring to see if the students in the three halls have improved their recycling habits.
