The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the Wind Symphony and Symphony Band season opening concert on Oct. 14.
The concert is the first Wind Symphony performance under the direction of Brian Diller, associate lecturer of music. He joined the UW-Eau Claire faculty this year after completing his graduate studies in conducting at Ithaca College in New York. The Wind Symphony will perform two new works in addition to Morton Gould's spirited "West Point Symphony."
Symphony Band, directed by Dr. Phil Ostrander, associate professor of music, will perform a variety of works, including "Meridian," an exciting dance-inspired piece by Ola Gjeilo, featuring Diller on piano.
Concert tickets, available online and at the University Service Center, 715-836-3727 or 800-949-UWEC, are $6 for the general public; $4 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger, and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.50 for students with a university ID. For additional information, call the Service Center at 715-836-3727.
