Dr. Donald Patterson, Professor of Piano and Coordinator of the Keyboard Division at UW-Eau Claire received his Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance from the University of North Texas. He holds his Master of Music in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music (New York City) and is a graduate of the Lamont School of Music of the University of Denver with additional professional studies in Paris.
Dr. Patterson has performed in Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and many parts of the United States. He has been designated a Master Teacher by the Music Teachers National Association. His students have won competitions, scholarships and acceptance to graduate programs and have established successful careers in music. An active scholar, researcher, and reviewer, he has authored the books
One Handed: A Guide to Piano Music for One Hand;
Vincent Persichetti: a Bio-Biblography;
Keyboard Melodies; and
50 Hymn Tunes Without Words For Sightreading. He has recorded as soloist and chamber musician on various labels and is recognized in the International Who's Who in Music and Musicians; Who's Who in American Music: Classical; Who's Who in America; and American Keyboard Artists. A frequent adjudicator and clinician, he gives popular presentations on campuses and in the community. Dr. Patterson was named UW-Eau Claire's 2002-2003
